Tourico Holidays Increases Room Inventory In New York City
The tour operator purchases all rooms at Astor on the Park for the next year
NEW YORK - (October 18, 2005) - Tourico Holidays, a worldwide travel wholesale provider, has increased its hotel supply in New York City with the purchase of the entire room inventory for the Astor on the Park, a newly renovated hotel overlooking Central Park.
Tourico Holidays, a subsidiary of Travel Holdings, Inc., is the exclusive marketer through August 31, 2006 for the entire 3-Star, 112-room boutique hotel. The block purchase of the Astor on the Park is the latest effort on behalf of Tourico Holidays to effectively serve partner tour operators and wholesalers around the globe. Tourico Holidays, based near Orlando, Fla., is the largest inbound tour operator in the United States.
“The Astor is our most aggressive attempt yet to provide tour operators and wholesalers hotel inventory in one of the most popular destinations in the world. No one buys more block inventory in New York City than Tourico Holidays,” said Asi Ginio, vice president of product development at Tourico Holidays. “We know when international travelers are looking to come to the United States, New York City is at the top of the list.”
The Astor on the Park, owned by Amsterdam Hospitality Group, chose Tourico Holidays because of its marketing prowess to the Big Apple. “Tourico Holidays has a strong ten- year track record of bringing travelers from every part of the globe to New York City”, said George Dfouni of Amsterdam Hospitality Group. “Tourico will give the Astor a customer-based foundation that is critical for the hotel.”
The Astor on the Park, a seven-story hotel on the northwest corner of Central Park, just completed a multi-million dollar renovation. The hotel celebrated its re-opening on September 1. The renovations included completely refurbished guest rooms, lobbies and interiors, including marble bathrooms with glass vanities and amenities.
Well-suited for both the vacationer and business traveler, the Astor is wired with high-speed internet access throughout the hotel and business and concierge services are available at the front desk, which is overseen by a multi-lingual staff.
The Astor is just steps from landmarks such as the Museum of Natural History and minutes to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall and Fifth Avenue shopping. The hotel has easy access to public transportation and valet services are available.
