Tel Aviv, Orlando, January 26, 2005 – Travel Holdings, Inc. announced today that it will launch the leading Israeli consumer travel site; LastMinuteTravel.co.il. This site will supplement the company’s existing strong and diverse internet presence, as the lead provider of travel services to the Israeli market.
LastMinuteTravel-Israel will offer over 30,000 hotels worldwide, 37 contracted airlines, as well as numerous cruise lines and car rental companies. “LastMinuteTravel.co.il will shape the online consumer travel industry in Israel as we know it,” said Danny Gosis, Managing Director of Travel Holdings Israel.
Users will be able to place flight and hotel reservations directly from the website, eliminating the need to go through other traditional travel product suppliers. With LastMinuteTravel.co.il’s instant online confirmations, users will even have the ability to make reservations on the very same day of the flight or the arrival to the hotel. “As surprising as it may sound, Israeli sites are not fully automated and they require the interference of a ‘real’ travel agent in order to complete the booking process,” adds Gosis.
Travel Global System (TGS) is the leading developer behind LastMinuteTravel’s infrastructure. This infrastructure includes an extranet, which enables hotels to update special deals and prices directly into the system in real time. In addition to TGS’ cutting edge extranet technology, LastMinuteTravel.co.il will have direct connectivity to several Global Distribution Systems such as Sabre, Worldspan and Galileo. LastMinuteTravel.co.il will also be the first online presence to have direct connectivity to local airlines such as El-Al and Arkia. TGS has also completed direct connectivity to Choice Hotels, Cendant, Carnival Cruise and Hertz. “These technologies grant us the ability to give our customers the best value available on flights, hotels, cruises, car rentals with more surprises along the way” adds Danny Gosis with excitement.
LastMinuteTravel.co.il will be co-branded with one of the top US Domestic consumer travel sites; LastMinuteTravel.com. “By leveraging the LastMinuteTravel.com brand on our site, we will show our customers that we bring them top quality content, from a top quality site.” adds Alon Maimoni, e-Commerce Manager for Travel Holdings Israel.
The site is expected to be officially launched in February, 2005. “We are very thrilled with the penetration of the Israeli market, we feel that the market is ready for an upgrade to a more innovative and sophisticated solution in the travel Industry.” concludes Gosis.
